Skull Rock Goes Vertical: Corsair Cove Raises a Pirate Empire
GamingCorsair Cove launches on July 31, 2026, bringing a colorful pirate-themed city-building experience to Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox on PC and PC Game Pass.
Developed by Limbic Entertainment and published by Hooded Horse, the game places players in command of a group of shipwrecked pirates attempting to preserve the fading Golden Age of Piracy.
The settlement begins on an isolated island dominated by steep cliffs and limited flat ground. Instead of expanding only across a traditional grid, players can construct homes, taverns, workshops and defensive buildings directly along cliffsides and hilltops.
Bridges, ladders, elevators, pathways and ziplines connect the different levels of the settlement. An inefficient transportation network can delay production, prevent resources from reaching distribution points and create serious problems as the population grows.
Corsair Cove includes more than 50 types of goods. Production chains range from basic food, clothing and alcohol to spyglasses, medicine, flintlock pistols, cannons and specialized equipment required by experienced sailors.
Different groups of pirates have their own expectations. New arrivals may accept simple meals and basic accommodation, while skilled crew members demand better clothing, entertainment and valuable supplies before agreeing to remain in the settlement.
The island is only one part of the experience. Players can construct ships, select captains, recruit specialized crew members and send fleets into dangerous waters to search for treasure, raid enemy locations and collect resources unavailable at home.
Sea expeditions can lead to smuggling operations, ancient temples, hostile forts, legendary pirates and supernatural threats. Encounters with enemy vessels use tactical turn-based combat influenced by the selected ship, captain, crew and available equipment.
Players can develop their pirate society through four progression directions: Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring and Wealth. Advancing through these paths unlocks new buildings, transportation systems, production chains and stronger ships.
The Crown remains a constant threat as pirate hunters attempt to end the age of independent buccaneers. Building an efficient settlement and maintaining a powerful fleet are both necessary to defend the island and reclaim control of the surrounding seas.
By combining vertical construction, detailed logistics, population management and naval adventures, Corsair Cove offers a different interpretation of the pirate fantasy—one where efficient planning can be as important as cannons and treasure.
